About Us
"A positive impact on each client's overall quality of life."
Opening their new practice's doors in 1992, Mays Jemison and Kenny Mendelsohn left behind one of the largest plaintiff-oriented firms in Alabama. With a successful track record under their belts and an almost guaranteed career of high profile cases in their future, many questioned their decision to move on. The truth of the matter was that Mays and Kenny were determined to not just work on cases, they wanted to work with clients.
In order to achieve their goal, they established they would:
- Measure success on the quality of "principal-to-client" relationships rather than the volume of cases successfully litigated
- Carefully manage the number of clients they serve in order to insure they can always provide attentive interaction with each client
- Dedicate more time to each case and more personal attention to each client
Since that first day, this distinction has guaranteed that every case will be handled with direct contact between the partners and the clients. After five years the success of providing quality, personalized legal representation was evident and the partners asked Thomas James to join their team. Attracted by the partners' philosophies, Tommy joined the firm in 1997. Ellenann C. Benefield later joined the firm in 2002.
Today, Jemison, Mendelsohn & James primarily handle civil litigation with concentrations in personal injury and wrongful death involving Automobile and Commercial Truck Collisions, and claims against State Employees and State Agencies.
